ABOUT MANUSCRIPT : | Pathya & Apathya is a Persian book on Ayurveda that focuses on the concepts of Pathya(wholesome) and Apathya (unwholesome), which are central to achieving the goals and objectives of Ayurvedic medicine. In Ayurveda, both the body and diseases are believed to be influenced by food, as captured by the saying Ahara SambhavamVastuhRogaschaharaSambhavah (the body and diseases arise from food). Ahara (food) holds the highest importance among the three essential pillars of life (Upastambha). In the context of Yuktivyapashraya Chikitsa (rational therapy), treatment plans focus primarily on the combination of medicine and food. These medicinal foods and behaviors are referred to as Upashaya (conducive to healing), while those that aggravate the condition are called Anupashaya (non-conducive). The principle of Pathya-Apathya aligns closely with the Ayurvedic concept of Upashaya-Anupashaya, emphasizing the critical role that diet and lifestyle play in the treatment and prevention of diseases |
