ABOUT MANUSCRIPT :Sharh Fusul Buqrat is a commentary on the book Fusul (Aphorisms) by Hippocrates. Originally written in Greek, it was later translated into Arabic. Ibn Nafis, who authored the commentary, took issue with Hippocrates's assertion that penetrating wounds of the urinary bladder are always fatal. Ibn Nafis wrote Sharh Fusul Buqrat multiple times, each version tailored to the specific requests of physicians. In his introduction, Ibn Nafis outlines his approach to the commentary: 'In our previous commentaries on this book, editions varied according to the various purposes of those who requested them. However, in this edition, we aim to follow what we believe is most appropriate for commentary work—highlighting and supporting true opinions while rejecting false ones. This has been our consistent policy in all studied subjects. May Allah guide and help us in this endeavor.' Fusul Buqrat is divided into seven chapters, comprising a collection of wise and concise sayings on practical matters such as diet, prognosis, and therapeutics. The text sets forth the general principles of medicine (KulliatTibb) to guide physicians in their practice and understanding of medical issues they may encounter.
