| ABOUT MANUSCRIPT : | Tohfa Dostan is a manuscript authored by Syed Majid Ali, a resident of Azimabad (Patna), and the son of Syed Imam Ali Razvi. Syed Majid Ali compiled many of the medical prescriptions from his esteemed teacher, Hakeem Imam Bakhsh, while also acknowledging another of his mentors, Munshi Kasim Ali, whom he regarded as an expert physician. Throughout the manuscript, Syed Majid Ali credits both his teachers for their influence on his medical knowledge and practices. The manuscript includes a rich collection of tested and tried prescriptions, some of which are dedicated to notable individuals such as Lala Ramdayal and Muhiuddin. These dedications highlight the practical applications and efficacy of the treatments, reflecting Syed Majid Ali’s hands-on experience in treating a variety of diseases. In addition to the therapeutic prescriptions, Tohfa Dostan also delves into the principles of treatment, offering valuable insights into the author’s personal experiments and observations. The manuscrt is divided into two chapters and a concluding section. The first chapter begins with a focus on diseases of the head, systematically progressing through other ailments.
