| ABOUT THE BOOK : | Ashtangahridaya is a famous well known Ayurvedic text. It is one among the Brihatrayi. Present book contains Chiktsa and Kalpasthanam of Ashtangahridaya. It contains 22 chapters in Chikitsa and 6 chapters in Kalpasthana. Chikitsa sthana mainly deals with various herbal and herbomineral treatments of various types and sub types of diseases like Jvara (fevers), Raktapitta (bleeding disorders), Atisara (diarrhea), Arsha(piles), Grahaṇi, Vāta Rakta (gout) etc., in detail.[BREAK][BREAK]First chapterof Kalpa sthana is Vamanakalap, 2nd is Virechanakalpa, 3rd is Vamanvirechana vyapat chikitsa, 4th is Vastikalpa, 5th is Vasti vyapat chikitsa and 6th is Bheshakja kalpa. It has description on collection of drugs needed for Vaman (medicated vomiting), Virechana (medicated purgation) and Vasti (medicated enema). Various drugs/Kalpa are used as Vaman, Virechana and Vasti for different diseased conditions. Treatment and care in excess/ low effect of drugs and treatment for the adverse effects of Vaman, Virechana and Vasti procedures are also explained.
