ABOUT THE BOOK :Sushrutasamhita is a famous well known Ayurvedic text. It is one among the Brihatrayi. Present book contains all the sthana of Sushruta samhita. Sutrasthanam of Sushrutasamhita contains 46 chapters. It starts with Vedotpattiadhyaya and ends with Annapana adhyaya. This part deals with various basic concepts of Ayurveda, Dravyaguna, Svastavritta, Basic needs of various Sastrakarma etc. Nidanasthana of Sushrutasamhita contains 16 chapters. Etiology, pathogenesis, types, prodromal symptoms, symptoms, prognosis etc of Vatarakta (gout), Asmari (colic), Bhagandhara (fistula), Kushtha (skin diseases), Prameha (diabetes and urinary diseases), Slipada (filariasis) etc diseases are described. Shrairasthanam of Sushrutasamhita contains 10 chapters. This part is exclusive on anatomy and physiology. A detailed description of external and internal body parts, descriptions on Skin, various Asthi, Kala, Snayu, Peshi, Sira, Dhamani, Ashya, Srotas, their seats and properties are also described. Different Prakriti and Kaya persons and their characteristic features are described. Various types of Marma (vital parts) and effect of injury to these vital parts and there treatments are described. Various types of blood letting, places of blood letting etc are also discussed. Kalpasthanam of Sushrutasamhita contains 8 chapters. This part is exclusive for toxicology. First chapter deals with poisoning of King, characteristic features of various types poisonous diets, poisonous anointing, poisonous ornaments etc. Second chapter deals with various Sthavaravisha (plant based poisons) based on plant parts like poisonous leaves, roots, latex etc. and their specific characteristic features, Dushivisha, treatment of various poisons are also explained. Third, 4th and 5th chapter deals with Jangamavisha (animal based poisons), adishthana like various types of snakes, their bites, characteristic features of their bites, treatments etc. Sixth chapter deals with rat, dog, jackal etc animal bites and their treatments. Seventh chapter deals with some important anti poison medications like Kalayana ghrita, Amrita ghrita, Vishamukta lakshan etc. Eighth chapter deals with various insects bites, scorpion bite etc and their treatments. Chikitsasthana of Susrutasamhita contains 40 chapters. It starts with Dvivraniya chikitsa adhyaya and ends with Dhumanasyakavalgraha chikitsa. It describes many herbal and herbomineral and surgical remedies for various diseases. Panchakarma related adverse effects and their treatments are also described. Uttarasthanam of Susrutasamhita contains 66 chapters. First chapter is Oupadravikadhyay and ends with Doshabheda vikalpadhyaya. It has description on various diseases of children and their treatment; psychological diseases like Unmada, Apasmara and their treatment; diseases of eye, ear, nose, face, teeth, head and their treatment; various fever, diarhoea, anemia, various gynecological diseases etc. and their treatment; In this text description of each disease covers their etiology, types, symptoms, prognosis, line of treatment, treatment with many herbal and herbomineral preparation etc. Rutucharya, Tantrayukti, drugs groups according to taste etc are also described.
