ABOUT MANUSCRIPT : | Sadidi, also known as Al-MughnīfīSharḥ al-Mūjaz, is a renowned commentary on Mujaz, which is itself a concise summary of the famous Al-Qanun by Ibn Nafis. Mujaz serves as an essential text covering the basic theories of medicine, diseases, diagnostics, and therapeutics. It is systematically divided into four sections: 1. First Section: Discusses the foundational principles of medicine, offering an in-depth explanation of the basic concepts necessary for understanding medical practice. 2. Second Section: Focuses on drugs and foods, detailing their properties, uses, and therapeutic benefits. 3. Third Section: Describes diseases that are specific to particular organs, examining their causes, symptoms, and treatments. This section provides practical insights into organ-specific medical issues. 4. Fourth Section: Covers diseases that are not confined to a specific organ, such as fevers, offering a broader understanding of systemic and generalized health conditions. Three key commentatoto the: Kazruni, Aqsarai, and Nafisi. Among these, Kazruni distinguished himself not only by preceding the other two but also through his exceptional clarity and thorough explanations of technical medical matters. His commentary, particularly on the principles of materia medica, became a cornerstone in Tibbi (Unani medical) education, often serving as a textbook in medical schools. His work is noted for its meticulous research into the Greek origins and the ontributions of Unani physicians. One example of Kazruni’s scholarly rigor is his research on the Greek physician Asqalinaous, identified in Greek sources as Asclepiades. Kazruni details that Asqalinaous was a royal physician who served Caesar of Rome and tragically died when his boat capsized. This attention to historical detail, along with his accurate identification of the Greek physician’s name, demonstrates Kazruni’s commitment to preserving and clarifying classical medical knowledge for future generations of practitioners. |
