ABOUT MANUSCRIPT :Sharḥ Al-Asbab Wal-Alamat is a distinguished and influential commentary on Al-Asbab Wal-Alamat, originally authored by Nafis ibn Iwaz Kirmani in Samarqand during January 1424 AD. Al-Asbab Wal-Alamat is a comprehensive medical compendium written by NajibuddinSamarqandi (d. 1222). It serves as a thorough manual of therapeutics and pathology, detailing the causes (Asbab), symptoms (Alamat), and treatments (Ilaj) of various diseases. The treatise is systematically organized, starting with diseases affecting the head and moving downward, concluding with a discussion on poisonous substances and insects. Nafis ibn Iwaz Kirmani's commentary on Najibuddin al-Samarqandi’s work gained significant acclaim and popularity. The depth of his analysis and clarity of exposition elevated his commentary to a revered status, leading to additional commentaries and translations. Notably, his work was translated into Persian and expanded upon by Muqim Arzani in the 18th century. Kirmani's contributions are particularly noteworthy for their early description of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). He detailed a technique combining 'strong movements and massive chest expansion' to induce and support breathing, alongside 'compression of the left side of the chest,' which parallels modern cardiac compression methods. This pioneering approach underscores the advanced understanding of medical practices in ancient Persia
