ABOUT THE BOOK : | Sushrutasamhita is a famous well known Ayurvedic text. It is one among the Brihatrayi. Present book contains Sutra, Nidana and Sharira Stana of Sushruta samhita. Sutrasthana contains 46 chapters. It starts with Vedotpattiadhyaya and ends with Annapana adhyaya. This part deals with various basic concepts of Ayurveda, Dravyaguna, Svastavritta, Basic needs of various Sastrakarma etc. Nidana Stana of Sushrutasamhita contains 16 chapters. Etiology, pathogenesis, types, prodromal symptoms, symptoms, prognosis etc of Vatarakta (gout), Asmari (colic), Bhagandhara (fistula), Kushtha (skin diseases), Prameha (diabetes and urinary diseases), Slipada (filariasis) etc diseases are described. Shrairasthanam of Sushrutasamhita contains 10 chapters. This part is exclusive on anatomy and physiology. A detailed description of external and internal body parts, descriptions on Skin, various Asthi, Kala, Snayu, Peshi, Sira, Dhamani, Ashya, Srotas, their seats and properties are also described. Different Prakriti and Kaya persons and their characteristic features are described. Various types of Marma (vital parts) and effect of injury to these vital parts and there treatments are described.
